What We Believe
The individuals who meet and share membership in this congregation do so striving to understand and follow the directions and commandments of God, as written in the Bible. Our objective is to change our lives ever closer to the standards of thought and conduct modeled here on earth by Jesus Christ, believing that our time here on earth is brief, in comparison to that time we will spend after the second coming of Jesus. We study, we sing, we pray, we give as we strive to aid one another and our community, with physical materials, with emotional support, and growth in spiritual understanding.
The Authority of Scripture
We believe in the infallibility of the Bible, that it is the perfect word of God, sufficient for all our needs for instruction on how to live our lives. We believe that Jesus Christ is God's son and that he was born of a virgin birth.
Salvation Through Christ
We believe that we are sinners, failing on an ongoing basis to maintain the standard of thought and conduct that God directs, and as a result would be separated from God, after death, unless we repent of those sins, confess publicly our belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God, are baptized in the name of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to have our sins washed away, and strive daily to avoid future sins; believing that if we confess future sins, one to another, and repent of them, that the grace of God will cover them and reconcile us to God.
Biblical Independence
The Azle Church of Christ is guided only by the Bible, as we seek to understand and follow God's commandments and directions and has no allegiance to any group or denomination.
Worship and Assembly
We assemble together (Heb 10:25) each first day of the week for the purpose of worshiping God, honoring His son Jesus the Christ by partaking of the emblems (1 Cor 11:23-29) representing his body (the bread) and his blood (the fruit of the vine) as instituted by Jesus Himself on the night before He was betrayed (Matt 26:26-28). In this assembly we sing, pray, partake of the Lord's supper, give of our means, and hear an exposition from the word of God. We also meet at other times primarily for Bible study, for encouraging and edifying one another, for fellowship and occasionally to share a meal together.
Leadership Structure
The business and day to day affairs of the Azle Church of Christ are under the direction of the elders of this congregation. The preacher, all ministers, and all staff work under the direction of those elders. The existing elders, and all previous elders, and all future elders are, were, and will be chosen by the members of this congregation of people according to the example of Acts 6:2-4.
